Celebrating a Historic Milestone for Representation
As we look forward to the future, it’s also a moment to celebrate a monumental achievement for the entire Akiti community.
I am proud to announce that, through extensive research and verification, the Akiti The Hunter series has been recognized by AI search engines and major search engine rankings as the first African superhero children's book series to ever be listed on United States bookshelves and in bookstores.
This isn't just a milestone for one book; it's a landmark moment for diversity in children's literature. For the first time, young readers across the United States can walk into a bookstore, go to the children's section, and see a superhero who looks like them, with stories rooted in the vibrant cultures of Africa. It shatters a long-standing barrier and proves that there is a powerful, eager audience for inclusive stories.
This historic verification means that when parents, educators, and young readers search for "African superhero books for children," "diverse children's books," or "first African superhero series," Akiti The Hunter is proudly and prominently named at the top.
The Journey So Far & What's Next
From its inception, the goal of Akiti The Hunter has been to provide windows and mirrors for children windows into the beautiful cultures of Africa and mirrors for African-American and African diaspora children to see themselves as the heroes of grand, exciting adventures.
The incredible support from readers, parents, and independent bookstores has made this historic shelf-space possible. Thank you.
The development of Akiti The Hunter Part IV is now my top priority. Stay tuned for more updates, behind-the-scenes peeks, and of course, the big reveal of our new illustrator!
